If you are a new graduate with a BS degree in electrical engineering or similar field and have some familiarity with optoelectronic semiconductor devices such as lasers, and photodetectors you can apply for a full-time to part-time position at OEpic. You will learn to understand the structure of the devices that you will characterize. You will setup test equipment, follow test procedures, write device performance reports and do device fabrication CAD layouts. Any background in Labview programming and CAD software is highly desirable.

Job responsibilities:

  • Conduct performance and reliability tests on either packaged or on-wafer devices using manual and automated probe stations.

  • Setup data acquisition routines and database interactions for test data.

  • Automate machine operations if needed.

  • Prepare test reports.

  • Prepare mask set layouts for device fabrication.

Semiconductor Process Technician

About the job

As a compound semiconductor process technician, you need to manually take various size wafers through all processing steps needed for the fabrication of optoelectronic devices. This includes contact lithography, dry and wet etching, metal evaporation, sputtering, plating, wafer thinning and scribing. You will also be asked to perform diagnostic tests, including ohmic contact measurement, surface profile measurement and SEM operation. If your experience has been only with silicon processing, you will not qualify for this position.

Job responsibilities:

  • Perform multiple processing and verification steps routinely in a small III-V compound semiconductor fab. Handle and process wafers individually and manually.

  • Processing steps include: contact lithoghrapy, metallization, wet and dry etching, wafer thinning and dicing, visual inspection, and SEM.

  • Follow processing run sheets and procedures without supervision.

  • Do all steps of processing on a wafer from start to finish. Visually inspect at each step to judge processing quality.

  • Three years of hands-on experience with lithography, etching, deposition, and diagnostic testing of compound semiconductors. Silicon experience is not relevant.

  • You need to be meticulous and detail oriented. Please do not apply if you have not handled and processed individual GaAs or InP wafers manually. This is a full time position.

  • Local candidates have priority.

  • Job location is Sunnyvale, California.
